
Mark is founder of Empirical Asset Management and an architect of the Rules Based Investing® philosophy which has been developed based on his 30 years in the financial services industry.
Prior to launching EAM, Mark was a Senior Portfolio Manager at Merrill Lynch . As an in-house portfolio manager Mark developed partnership arrangements with more than 190 Merrill Lynch advisors. Prior to joining Merrill Lynch in 2005, Mark spent eleven years at Advest, where he held the title of First Vice President of Investments.
Additionally, Mark held the position of Vice President for the Investment Services Group of Donaldson, Lufkin and Jenrette, an institutional research and trading house where he worked on the sell side servicing institutional clients. Mark began his career at Shearson-Lehman American Express in 1983. Mark holds a B.A. in Economics from Connecticut College.
